This is a song about the woes of perfectionism, and the distance it can create in one's personal relationships. Sometimes you're so blinded by the end goal, that you forget what really matters, which is likely not your job, your art, your hobbies, or your path to self-actualization.

Done is better than perfect. Get it done. Move on. This is your life. Get in it. It's happening right now, and you're too busy wishing that it looked like someone else's.
